Product Description
The instrument uses polarized-light interference to assess stress in optical glass, glass products, and other optical materials. A sensitive color plate and quarter-wave plate compensation support both qualitative observation and quantitative stress measurement.
For quantitative testing, the operator observes the brightest point, rotates the analyzer until the point becomes dark brown, and records the analyzer angle and specimen thickness for conversion to stress. Applications include optical-instrument, glass, and glass-product manufacturers and laboratories.
