This vertical high-temperature atmosphere furnace evaluates slag-erosion resistance of refractory products according to GB/T 8931-2007, Test Method 3, the rotating-specimen gas-through method. The system comprises a furnace shell, heating module, crucible, operation and control system, and auxiliary components.

A digital controller and continuously adjustable SCR regulator support programmed temperature curves, stored PID parameter sets, and PID self-tuning. Melting can be performed in air or under a protective atmosphere.

The maximum operating temperature is 1,600 °C. Silicon–molybdenum rods provide heating, and a platinum–rhodium type-S thermocouple measures temperature. Heating rates are 1–15 °C/min from room temperature to 1,300 °C and 1–5 °C/min from 1,300 to 1,600 °C. Rated heating power is approximately 16 kW. Closed-loop PID control supports 50-segment temperature curves. Temperature-control accuracy is within ±1 °C; holding accuracy is within ±2 °C.

The atmosphere may be air, nitrogen, or argon, with gas flow of 0–10 L/min. The system accepts four specimens, normally 40 × 40 × 230 mm or a 40 × 40 × X rectangular prism with X greater than 200 mm and set by crucible height. The crucible is made to the specimen dimensions. Four specimens remain suspended in the slag while undergoing planetary motion, with secure specimen fixtures.
