Thermal Expansion Coefficient Tester

Published: 3/14/2025

The DIL0806 A/B measures linear thermal expansion of materials under controlled temperature programs using inductive displacement sensing and PID temperature control. It is suited for carbon fibers and composites, metal alloys, glass, ceramics, and refractories across cryogenic to high-temperature ranges.

Product Description

The DIL0806 A/B thermal expansion coefficient tester is designed for precise measurement of linear dimensional change as a function of temperature. It employs an inductive displacement transducer with an integrated measurement amplifier, adjustable contact pressure, and vacuum-sealed mechanics to ensure stable, low-noise detection.

The system supports interchangeable sample holders made of quartz, alumina (Al2O3), or graphite, enabling measurements for diverse materials and temperature ranges. Configurable furnaces cover cryogenic (-196°C) through high-temperature regimes up to 2000°C, with appropriate protection tubes for gas atmospheres and optional liquid-nitrogen cooling for low-temperature testing.

A modular architecture separates the measurement section from temperature control and data acquisition. Linear heating and cooling rates are programmable over a broad range, with soak segments and safety features such as sensor isolation and over-temperature protection. External software provides real-time visualization, test sequencing, and data processing.

Ancillary components include a thermostatic circulating bath to stabilize the transducer base, vacuum hardware for atmosphere control, and standard reference samples for calibration. The system can operate standalone via embedded control and can be connected to a host computer for automated testing.
